In this book, Carlo Rovelli takes us on a profound and poetic journey through the nature of time. With the perspective of a theoretical physicist and science communicator, he dismantles our most basic intuitions about the passage of hours and moments. His writing is clear, even lyrical, which makes the reading both intellectually and aesthetically pleasurable.
However, the book is not easy. Often Rovelli’s reflections become entangled in philosophical abstractions and metaphors that may leave the reader disoriented. What we find here is not a step-by-step guide to understanding the physics of time, but rather a meditation full of suggestive fragments. This makes it more inspiring than didactic, and readers looking for scientific concreteness may end up frustrated.
The Order of Time works very well as a gateway to the great questions of reality and perception, but it is less effective when it comes to explaining the physical foundations in a structured way. It is a book that fascinates, but one that can also exhaust.
Cover Review
The cover, designed by lookatcia, is a visual success. On a bright yellow background, a set of black dots arranged in concentric circles conveys a clear sense of attraction, rhythm, and mystery—elements that perfectly align with the notion of time as both structure and enigma. The simplicity of the design, combined with its chromatic strength, captures attention and reflects the spirit of the book very well.
