Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is a very dynamic and entertaining science fiction novel that combines mystery and scientific popularization. The story begins with an astronaut who wakes up alone on a spaceship (his two companions are dead), unable to remember even who he is, and gradually discovers that he is traveling to another star system on a mission to save Earth from imminent extinction. The pace is steady and the mysteries are well balanced, which keeps the reader engaged until the end. It is a long book, but it reads quickly, which shows its quality. Even so, some technical explanations may feel too lengthy and slightly slow down the excitement. Overall, it is an intelligent and highly enjoyable read.
The cover is striking and perfectly conveys the feeling of isolation and danger in space. The contrast between darkness, fire, and the floating figure immediately catches the eye and invites you to read the book.
